Yonka—Discontinued: All links so far

Yonka—Discontinued

  • Discontinued means it is gone forever
  • Discontinued/replaced means there is a replacement product that has similar actions to the one that was discontinued although it is not the same product
  • Renamed is the same exact product with a new name only

Some of the following products were not discontinued, just rebranded and therefore given a new name. In other words, some are the same products with new names. If a replacement product is available, it either has either a similar makeup or is a completely different product than the one it’s replacing. If a product has simply been renamed, as per Yonka the formulation(s) are identical.

Yonka-Paris Sunscreen SPF 25: DISCONTINUED!

Yes, another product has seen its last days. Both SPF 20 (a wonderful, light-textured, albeit low SPF product great for an oily skin) and SPF 25 have seen their last days. Below is the modified original post that included SPF 50, which is still available. I just took that product out and left the information for SPF 25 in case you want to read about it. I am hopeful Yonka will create some additional sunscreens to their one and only at this time, but it is a wait and see adventure. Now that I am retired, I no longer have access to the professional information I once did as far as what changes and additions will be coming down the pike.

Back in 2012, Yonka revamped several of their products while redressing the line with new packaging. Some of those products that went through an overhaul were their sun products. And if I can say sothankfully! Except in the case of the now discontinued Lait Solaire (oh, how I loved that product, see link below), the former Ultra Protection SPF 25 and SPF 40 sunscreens contained so much titanium dioxide that many of my clients couldnt use these sun products because it made their faces so white, with the titanium dioxide never really absorbing in. Not so with these two sun products. They are quickly and easily absorbed while providing excellent sun protection.

SPF 25 is termed a broad spectrum sun creamYou always want to use sunscreen that is full or broad spectrum, which means it protects against both UVA and UVB rays. Most sunscreens on the market nowadays have both UV filters in them, although this wasnt the case less than a decade ago. Without protecting your skin from both kinds of UV rays, a sunscreen is only doing half its job.

SPF 25 is a light-textured moisturizing sun cream. It is perfect for all skin types and can be used not only on the face but your entire body as well to help keep your skin from burning. As with any and all sun products, if you are going to be exposed for extended periods of time, reapply! (This product replaces Ultra Protection SPF 25.)

Ultra Protection employed titanium dioxide as one of its main sunscreen ingredients. Titanium dioxide, because of its white, chalky nature, made Ultra Protection leave an obvious white tint on the skin, even after it had absorbed. Those of you who experienced this will be happy to know the new SPF 25 does not have this effect! It is a luxurious cream and does not leave the skin looking white.

Essential ingredients:
  • Fruit extracts, vegetable glycerin, ureaanti-wrinkle, hydrating, renewing
  • Wheat germ and cereal germ oilsnourishing, protecting
  • Soy peptidesregenerating, smoothing
  • Mimosa tenuiflorarestoring, soothing
  • Vitamin Eantioxidant
  • Yonka “Quintessence” (essential oils of lavender, cypress, geranium, and rosemary)—nourishing, balancing, vitalizing
  • Active sunscreen ingredients:
    • Octocrylene (6%)
    • Oxybenzone (5%)
    • Avobenzone (3%)
    • Ensulizole (3%)
Directions for use:
  • Apply generously before any exposure
  • Reapply at least every 2 hours and after swimming or sweating
  • Concentrate on the areas that are particularly sensitive or are exposed to sunnose, tops of the ears, and shoulders, for instance

If you’re going to be exercising outside, use a waterproof product. If you’re only going to get incidental sun (like to and from your car), a regular, non-waterproof sunscreen will usually be enough.

      Recently Discontinued Yonka-Paris body products

      UPDATE:
Yonka has replaced or rebranded all of the products listed below. For ease, I have added the link to each new product after its discontinued counterpart.

      DISCONTINUED 4/2018:
Below are the body products in the Yonka line that have recently been discontinued. There is no inventory at headquarters, therefore none of the below can be purchased going forward.
      • Huile Corps Body Oil: A lovely body product fragrant with essential essences and hydrating oils.
      • Lait Corp Body Lotion: A ginseng body cream that for me was always a bit too light and not hydrating enough. Yonka did offer a travel size of Lait Corp, which was nice. Its replacement is LAIT HYDRATANT—regenerating, hydrating body milk.
      • Nutri Protect Hand Cream: This one is a bummer. I loved this hand cream from the day I tried it. And I shared it with so many clients who also will be equally disappointed that it is no longer available. CREME MAINS: Repairing, Comforting Hand Cream is a replacement product now available and equally wonderful, however it is different.

When I received notice these 3 products had been discontinued, I was also informed that Yonka has a wonderful new body product line that will be launching soon. I have every hope these new products will be improvements in what I have always felt was a weak body product line. Time will tell and I will post articles on these new gems when I have more information.

      Yonka’s CREME TEINTEE—tinted suncream: DISCONTINUED

Im not quite sure how I missed this one, but November 2017 Yonka discontinued Creme Teintee. This product joins many that were taken out of the Yonka-Paris skin care line in 2017. I didnt have a lot of clients using this tinted moisturizer, but I did have some who loved it. Like it or not, its time to say goodbye to yet another Yonka product. As of right now, there is no replacement for Creme Teintee.

CREME TEINTEE is a cream that provides a “natural tan. This smooth day cream with natural pigments provides 2-in-1 action: hydrating the epidermis (outer skin) as well as protecting it from low levels of damaging sunlight. Finally, Creme Teintee leaves the complexion glowing with a beautiful golden hue.

Creme Teintee blocks the most harmful UV rays and guards against free radical damage with a powerful antioxidant trio (vitamins A, C, and E). Used over your hydrating cream for normal to dry skin types or as your moisturizer if you have oilier skin, Creme Teintee is a wonderful alternative to foundationleaving your skin hydrated with a sun-kissed glow.

Here is a comment from one of my clients who has used this product for many years:

I love this product! It gives me a bit of a sun-kissed healthy color without the damage of the sun. (This is especially helpful in Chicago, where it is overcast 6 months of the year.) I have been using Creme Teintee every morning for about 10 years. It allows me to skip foundation on all but the most fancy of events.

When Yonka announced it was going to discontinue this product, I asked Carolyn to set aside as much of it as she could. I was thrilled when they decided not to pull Creme Teintee, as it is part of my daily Yonka regimen. [After rumors of this product being discontinued, Yonka halted that process—then decided to take it out after all.]

      Essential ingredients:
      • Pumpkin seed oil, cereal germ oil, beeswax, UVB filter—nourishing, protecting
      • Vitamins A, C, and E—antioxidants that are repairing and help to prevent free radical damage
      • Yonka “Quintessence (essential oils of thyme, lavender, cypress, geranium, and rosemary)—vitalizing
      Directions for use:
      • In the morning after cleansing and toning
      • Apply CREME TEINTEE as your day cream or if you have a drier skin type, apply over your chosen moisturizer. It’s tinted, so it will give your skin an immediate glow
      • For optimum results, use Gommage 303 or 305 once or twice a week before using Creme Teintee

Please be advised that Creme Teintee should not take the place of your regular sunscreen if you are going to be in the sun for any appreciable amount of time. This product does provide UVB protection, but not enough for long-term sun exposure. See link below for other products in the Yonka line with SPF.

      Yonka’s CREME 11 is leaving—please, hand me a Kleenex

      DISCONTINUTED 2/2018:
OK, this is getting out of hand!!! Having been a representative for Yonka-Paris for over 3 decades, I find it disappointing to find out so many of these wonderful product are being removed. I just posted the discontinuation of Creme 83. Now Creme 11 is about the bite the dust.

Not only will it not be sold in the retail arena, it will no longer be available to aestheticians to use in facials. This cream, for me as a professional, is a must-have—absolutely. To be without Creme 11 when someone comes to see me who has rosacea, redness, sensitivity of any kind—I just can’t imagine not having this wonderful creme to help ease their symtoms.

Yonka does have a new replacement product coming out in February 2018. It is not available for us to try yet, but as soon as I can get a hold of some, I will give it a go and let you know my thoughts.

Yonka is changing so fast and furiously it leaves me speechless. So many cremes that have been top sellers for decades have now been discontinued and are gone. Because for so long Yonka hasn’t made any changes to the line, I have felt content and secure in my ability to recommend at-home products as well as treat different conditions in my facial room. I can only hope the replacement for Creme 11 (and Creme 83, another effective sensitive skin cream that was recently taken out of the lineup) is as wonderful if not better than these two creams.

I admit, I don’t love many of the replacement products Yonka has come up with. They are pricey compared to the creams they are replacing; I’ll assume the same will be true with the new sensitive skin product(s)—83 and 11 were both in the mid-$50 range. The newer creams from Yonka have many “advanced” ingredients, which does raise the price of manufacturing, however the older versions have been just wonderful for over 30 years.

I will leave the following original post in its entirety to commemorate Creme 11. I just don’t want to erase what I have said about it—yet.

      UPDATE:
Yonka has come out with a new replacement for Creme 11: Sensitive Masque. Don’t get me started on this horrible name change! Click below to be taken to that product page.

Yonka’s CREME 11—for redness & sensitivity is a wonderful cream for anyone who has sensitive skin, couperose, and even rosacea. All of those skin conditions will generally have redness, something Creme 11 is effective against.

Whenever I meet a new client who has any of the above, I sample Creme 11. It is usually only a matter of days before I hear from the person wanting to come and pick up a tube of this soothing, anti-redness cream.

I highly recommend Creme 11 if you have redness, rosacea, if you’re sensitive to many or all products; I have had great success with this cream. It is best for normal to dry or true-dry skin. (Usually if someone has oily or problem skin—even if its red and sensitive—Creme 15 would be a better choice for them.) Here is a glowing recommendation from a 66-year-old client of mine who just started using this cream to help with sensitivity and redness:

Creme 11 is FANTASTIC. My skin has never been happier or looked better! I never want to be without it. Thank you!

      Essential ingredients:
      • Chamomile, arnica, yarrow, German chamomile, horse chestnut, hamamelis, mallow—soothing, calming
      • Cereal germ oils—nourishing
      • St. John’s Wort, horsetail extract (rich in silicon)—regenerating
      • Yonka Quintessence (essential oils of thyme, lavender, cypress, geranium, and rosemary)—balancing
      Directions for use:

      In the *morning and/or evening:
      • After cleansing and spraying on Yonka Lotion toner
      • Apply a pea-sized dollop of CREME 11 over face and neck
      • Then use eye cream

*Although labeled a “night cream,” I have several clients who use Creme 11 morning and evening. I’m not a stickler (or true believer) in day creams being used only for day and night creams only for night. Some people only can afford or simply only want to use one cream morning and night. And in the case of Creme 11, sometimes I want a client with very sensitive skin to use this cream both day and night so their skin can get the anti-inflammatory, healing, and balancing attributes of this cream 24/7.

Yonka’s CREME 83 for sensitive skin: DISCONTINUED

      DISCONTINUED 12/2017:
To say another one bites the dust is getting to be a tired phrase lately. Yonka obviously is taking a new direction, getting rid of many of their tried and true (and oldest) moisturizing creams in their line. Creme 83 is the latest casualty.

When I worked at The Spa at the Crescent, it was this cream that enabled us to finally change from an ineffective product line to the wonders of Yonka-Paris. This other line didn’t have a specific product for sensitive skin, so under the auspices of introducing Creme 83 into the treatment room for this skin type as well as selling it to sensitive skin clients, we were able to secure a place for Yonka at The Spa. From there we eventually got rid of the other product line in favor of using Yonka exclusively.

Although that story might be fun to know, it doesn’t help you if you have sensitive skin and have been using Creme 83. Yonka has ensured us that a new sensitive skin alternative will be coming out in the near future.

When I’ve had clients with normal to true-dry skin that is red, irritated, and/or sensitive, Creme 83 was the product I recommended for day and Creme 11 at night. Creme 11 helps to calm redness and doesn’t cause any skin sensitivity while it’s on your skin. It has almost no discernible scent and is also loaded with skin soothing ingredients. However, Creme 11 is also going away very soon, which (don’t get me started) is yet another disappointment.

Although Creme 11 is currently available, it has technically been discontinued. Once Yonka headquarters runs out of stock, this lovely sensitive skin cream will also no longer be available. As mentioned, Yonka is coming out with a new product to replace Creme 83 and Creme 11, but so far there has not been anything to sample. Once I can give it a try, I will relay my thoughts on this replacement cream. To say my fingers are crossed is an understatement.

      UPDATE:
Creme 11 is no longer available. Yonka has replaced it with SENSITIVE MASQUE:

Yonka’s CREME 83 for sensitive skin that is normal to dry is designed for delicate skin prone to (oil) dryness, this smooth, fast-absorbing cream eases discomfort, softens the epidermis, and provides protection from harsh weather conditions.

When I have a client who has normal to true-dry skin that is red, irritated, and/or sensitive, Creme 83 is the product I recommend for day and Creme 11 at night. Creme 83 helps to calm redness and doesn’t cause any skin sensitivity while it’s on your skin. It has a lovely lavender fragrance and is also loaded with antioxidant and skin soothing ingredients. If you have irritated, red skin give Creme 83 a try. To remind you, true-dry is skin that lacks oil vs. simple dehydration.

      Essential ingredients:
      • Calendula extract—soothing
      • Olive oil, beeswax—nourishing, protecting
      • Vitamins A, C, and E—antioxidants, regenerating
      • Yonka “Quintessence” (essential oils of thyme, lavender, cypress, geranium, and rosemary)—vitalizing, balancing

      Directions for use:
      In the morning:
      • After cleansing and spraying on Yonka Lotion toner
      • Apply a pea-sized dollop of CREME 83 over face and neck
      • Then use eye cream

      Yonka’s GOMMAGE 303—DISCONTINUED!!!

      DISCONTINUED 10/2017:
Im stunned. Im in a state of shock. Yonka has suddenly discontinued Gommage 303.

I can’t say I’m totally surprised, although I am extremely disappointed. Last year when I had a private training at my salon, the Yonka rep discussed upcoming changes with the product line. She did mention the possibility of going down to one gommage, but I guess I didn’t really think it would happen. But it has. Yonka now only has one gommage product available: Gommage 305With that said: I love Gommage 305. It certainly doesn’t have the citrus aromatics of Gommage 303, but I love it just the same.

A few years back Yonka changed the formulas for many of their products, taking out parabens and making overall changes to many of the ingredient lists. Unfortunately, 303 got hit with a major change that, for me as an aesthetician, was not only unfortunate but left me not wanting to use this citrus exfoliator on my clients. Gommage 303 quite simply didn’t gommage well. In treatment I had to use 2x the normal amount (and I use a lot of gommage in every facial). It didn’t peel off well and at home when I’d use it, I had to rub too hard to get any kind of a peel.

So really, this change doesn’t affect me personally. I didn’t love 303 anymore (after the ingredient changes) and I pretty much stopped using it in treatment. However Yonka headquarters didn’t highlight this change like I think they should have, and I wasn’t given time to purchase stock of this gommage for my clients who absolutely love it. There just wasn’t enough advanced notice to give my clients time to prepare for this large change in all of their skin care routines. Some—really most—of the products Yonka has chosen to discontinue lately haven’t affected too many people, although Creme PS was another biggie; discontinuing Gommage 303 is a big deal for many who love this gommage and that is a lot of people.

So for a large percentage of my clients this change will be a shock. Many of you just didn’t like the pungent smell of 305, preferring the citrus aromas of 303. Like Phyto 52, 305 has a rosemary-type scent, although there isn’t any rosemary in this gommage. Borneol, a camphor derivative, gives 305 a more earthy aromatic. I personally love it, some of you don’t. But please PLEASE don’t let this stop you from using gommage! It is essential to your routine and without it your skin will suffer.

The two gommages where originally combined into one blog post. I’ve taken all of 303 out and 305 stands alone in a new, solo article still published May 1, 2016, like the original. I will leave for posterity and happy memories the following details about our beloved Gommage 303. There are also links at the bottom of this page to articles I have written about what the gommage is and important instructions on how to use it.

So long, trusted friend. After our 32 years together, it’s time to say goodbye. Thank you for all the good work you’ve done for all of these many years!

GOMMAGE 303 says on the packaging its for a normal to oily skin type. I will go a bit further and say that 303, because of its citrus nature, is best for ANY skin type that is not sensitive to citrus. Simply putGommage 303 is for non-sensitive skin. Because of the fruity aromatic, some people who have true-dry (oil-dry) skin may prefer this product over 305*simply due to the scent. Personally, I love the aromatic of Gommage 305, but my experience as an aesthetician is it isnt for everyone. Dont let the label on this product keep you from trying it, even if you dont have normal to oily skin.
*Gommage 305, although not discontinued, has been rebranded with a new name: Gommage Yonka.

I use both 303 and 305 (personally and on most of my clients in the treatment room) and many of my clients do too. With essential oils of orange, sweet lime, and lemon, as long as your skin isnt sensitive to citrus, Gommage 303 is heavenlynot just because it makes your skin feel smooth, soft, and well-exfoliated but also because of the lovely fruit aromatics.

      Essential ingredients:
      • Carob, brown algae derivatives—exfoliating, hydrating
      • Essential oils of orange, lemon, lime—astringent, balancing
      • Lemon extract rich in vitamin C—lightening, antioxidant
      • Plant glycerin—hydrating

I cannot over emphasize how important Yonkas Gommage is to your healthy skin care routine. So many people who have tried and failed to use it correctly have missed out on this amazing exfoliator. Please click on the Q & A article link below to read a first-hand account of one of my clients experience with Gommage—before she met me and after I gave her proper instructions.

More DISCONTINUED products from Yonka + some products that will be renamed

Yes, there are more changes coming from Yonka-Paris. I’ve mentioned this before but I’ll say it again: There have been more changes in this line in the past 5 years than in the entire 32 years I have used Yonka products. The following information is from Yonka headquarters:

As part of an effort to streamline the Yonka Paris collection, a number of retail products will be rebranded and/or discontinued in the coming months. Stock up now before they’re all gone! We expect these changes to take effect by late summer or sooner.

      DISCONTINUED Products

Note: The new TIME RESIST Jour and Nuit cremes replace the Stimulastine Jour and Nuit products.

      REBRANDED Products

Alpha Complex and Fruitelia PS are being renamed and repackaged; still featuring the same formulas you know and love.

Alpha Complex will be renamed ALPHA PEEL, and Fruitelia PS will be renamed ALPHA FLUID.

Note: Fruitelia PNG will be discontinued altogether.

Yonka’s discontinued Serums and their replacement Boosters

I have worked with Yonka products for over 30 years. In the last five years, this product line has gone through more changes than in the previous twenty-five. Some changes I like, others I don’t. In all of the articles I write I give you my honest opinion as an aesthetician working with this line of products. I can say that I will always continue to use Yonka-Paris products, but I hope in my heart Yonka doesn’t lose its soul with all the changes taking place.

These 4 new Booster serums will replace some of the oldest products and formulations in the Yonka line. In one case, Hydra+ replaces Hydralia that recently replaced Dermols 1, 2 & 3. As I said, there has been a lot of changes with Yonka products! Defense+ is a brand new product in the line and will have a detailed article available soon.

Yonka Serum is one of the oldest and most loved products in the Yonka lineup. NUTRI+ booster is its replacement.

As an aesthetician I have no say-so in the changes that take place with the products I use. It is sometimes a difficult task to encourage and support my clients to purchase and use a newer product when the “old one” was working just fine. I have yet to get a sample of this new serum, but I can only hope it hasn’t changed from the basic formulation of Yonka Serum.

Here is the information that Yonka headquarters has provided about this serum booster:

NUTRI+ Nutrition Booster with cereal germ oils
Are you feeling tired? Is your skin lacking comfort? Bid adieu to signs of tiredness, discomfort and dryness with NURTI+. Its incredible vitamin-packed cocktail give your skin an instant boost.

Its secret: cereal germ oils with a nourishing and regenerating action, combined with the 5 Quintessence Yonka essential oils [thyme, lavender, cypress, geranium, and rosemary]. Now revitalized and nourished, your skin is positively glowing.

      Skin is nourished: 89%
Shows a boost in energy: 74%

The percentages the company uses (based on tests Yonka has performed on real people) seem wonderful at first glance but as a professional I don’t quantify products in this way. To say a skin care treatment gives your skin a “74% boost in energy” seems not only impossible to provereallybut it just sounds ridiculous to me. Regardless, using percentages is the new way Yonka is choosing to present their product information. Perhaps you, the consumer, like this kind of language. Anywhoif Nutri+ is anything like Yonka Serum, it will be a lovely, true-oil product that will help hydrate and boost circulation in your skin.

      For more information, see:

HYDRA+ replaces the very recently replaced Dermols replaced by Hydralia. Confused? For years Yonka had glycerin-based hydration boosters called The Dermols (1, 2 and 3). The three different Dermol products were replaced in 2012 with one homogenized version called Hydralia. At the time, I made my thoughts known: I was disappointed that these 3 distinctly different products had all of the sudden become one. And now, Hydralia has been morphed into the new booster: Hydra-plus.

I have used this product in treatment. Like Dermol 3, Hydra+ also has blackcurrant extract. When Hydralia came out, I was disappointed Dermol 3 had been discontinued. It was great for sensitive, couperouse, and rosacea skin. With that said, the scent of Dermol 3 wasn’t everyone’s favorite. Now Hydra+ has this distinct blackcurrant aromatic. My hope is this doesn’t turn a lot of people off of Hydra-plus. I love this scent, but many people do not. Hydra+ works just like the Dermols and Hydralia did. Since Hydra+ is replacing Hydralia, this will be the only glycerin-based, non-oily choice for adding extra hydration without increasing oil in client’s skin. Here is what Yonka headquarters has to say:

      HYDRA+ Hydration booster with blackcurrant
When your skin feels thirsty and taut, there is no time to lose. HYDRA+ is a real boost of hydrating active ingredients, including vegetable glycerin, which quenches its thirst instantly and efficiently. The 100% natural blackcurrant extract reinforces the cream's soothing feeling as soon as it is applied. Your skin is immediately softer, more comfortable and more supple.

Skin is better hydrated: +30% hydration

Several of my clients absolutely love this new product. The most common comment I hear is how this product really helped to relieve redness and sensitivity. Here is a comment from one of them:

I can’t believe how well HYDRA + worked! It reduced the redness of my skin to the point where I didn’t need to wear makeup. I love it!

      For more information, see:

LIFT+ replaces Galbol 90. For me this is a non-event. I never used nor sold Galbol 90. I have always felt it was a superfluous product. I don’t believe a product, Yonka or not, can truly “lift” tissue that is sagging due to age and gravity. However, both this and Galbol 90 have exceptional ingredients. I just couldn’t ever find room for it in my skin care routine or recommend it to my clients. But try it and see if you get results. Let me knowI love hearing success stories! From headquarters:

      LIFT+ Firmness Booster with rosemary
When your skin lacks tone, get things moving with Lift+. Core ingredients: 20 plants including rosemary with its firming and toning action, combined with the 5 Quintessence Yonka essential oils [thyme, lavender, cypress, geranium, and rosemary]. Skin is firmer and more toned. Face and neck shape is redefined.

Skin is firmer and toned: 90%

      For more information, see:

DEFENSE+ is a totally new product from Yonka and does not replace any existing product in the line. Can it reduce the “appearance” of wrinkles by 25%? I will let you know once I’ve tried it. I have yet to receive any in depth information from Yonka regarding Defense plus. Once I do, I will pass it on to you. Here is what Yonka says about this new product:

DEFENSE+ Antioxidant Booster with pine tree polyphenols
UV rays, pollution, smoking, etc. Say no to the free radicals that weaken your skin and accelerates the aging process. Fight back by using Defense+. Its pine bark polyphenols, known to be incredible antioxidants, enhance your skin's resistance to external aggressions, and its cocktail of organic oils helps reconstruct the skin's protective barrier. Featuring the heart and soul of the Yonka brand DNA, 5 proprietary essential oils: Quintessence Yonka essential oils. Now resilient and better protected, your skin will become more radiant and beautiful, and signs of aging will be reduced.

      Complexion is brighter: 75%
